Recipe: The best of granola
If you’re looking for a healthy homemade granola with zero sugar, then this is it! It’s crispy and crunchy, it gives you the healthy fats, protein and energy you need.
In the mix of your breakfast or snack, you can add fresh fruits and yogurt or milk.
Ingredients:
2½ cups dry oats
1¼ cups rye flakes
½ cup sesame seeds
½ cup chopped almonds
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup unsweetened coconut flakes
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons maple syrup
¼ cup honey
3 tablespoons coconut oil or extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¾ teaspoon dried ginger
½ teaspoon ground cloves
¾ cup raisins or dried cranberries
½ teaspoon fine-grain sea salt
Orange zest
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, except raisins/cranberries and coconut flakes. Mix until well combined.
Line tray with parchment paper. Lay mixture flat on the tray. Let it be a little crowded so that oats can stick together.
Halfway through baking, stir the mixture, gently press down on the granola with the back of a spatula and add the coconut flakes for a perfectly toasted result. Bring back to baking.
Bake until golden-brown and crispy, 30 to 35 minutes in total. Remove from oven and allow to cool before taking off tray. It continues to crisp up as it cools.
Using a metal spatula, scoop granola from tray and break into bite-size pieces. Add raisins.
Stored in an airtight container, this granola will keep for several weeks.
